Levi Bike Park — Finland

Levi Bike Park, Finnish Lapland

Lift-served downhill, reindeer on the trail, and the best sausage soup I've had — Levi Bike Park, deep in Finnish Lapland.

Levi Bike Park, Finnish Lapland

I went to Levi Bike Park in early July expecting good trails. I didn't expect a reindeer asleep on the golf course, three more wandering the road on the way up, or my first bowl of Finnish sausage soup tasting this good.

Getting to the Top

The gondola climbs through forest that thins out the higher you go, until the trees disappear and it's just fell and sky. From the summit, the Sámi landscape spreads out in every direction — and for a few minutes before you drop in, that view alone is worth the trip.

The Descent

This is what downhill riders come for. The trail off the top opens up fast — wide lines, clean sightlines, enough speed to make your stomach drop on the first few turns. Lower down it tightens into something more technical, and the scenery never lets up: forest, flashes of lake, the odd reindeer track crossing the path. It's the kind of descent that makes you want to ride straight back up and do it again.

Every Level Covered

The network isn't just for downhill specialists. Wide, forgiving lines for first-timers; narrow, technical tracks for people who want more. If you ride enduro, the longer routes give you the most to work with.

No Bike, No Problem

Full rental — bikes, helmets, protection — plus lessons if you want them.

Where to Eat

After a day on the trails, Levi's restaurants are worth the stop. Lappish food doesn't get the attention it deserves — reindeer, local fish, and forest berries turn up in combinations I hadn't tried anywhere else.

Why I'd Go Back

I've ridden a lot of bike parks. What makes Levi different is how wild it still feels — lift-served trails usually mean manicured and crowded, but here you're sharing the mountain with actual reindeer, looking out at landscape that hasn't been touched. That contrast is rare, and it's why this one stays on my list above almost anywhere else.

If a summer trip north is on the table, put this on it.
